From Pippy Oak to a Modern Hand-Painted Finish
This stunning kitchen began life as a classic Pippy Oak kitchen, with beautiful character grain and solid craftsmanship. While the natural wood had aged gracefully, the owners wanted to refresh the space and give it a lighter, more contemporary feel β without losing the warmth and quality of the original oak cabinetry.
Using my professional hand-painting techniques, I transformed the kitchen from traditional Pippy Oak to a soft, timeless painted finish, giving the room a completely new lease of life.
Before and After: Bright, Elegant, and Timeless

As you can see, the transformation is dramatic β the hand-painted finish has brightened the entire space, highlighting the natural light from the windows and making the room feel larger and more open. The subtle neutral tones complement the tiled splashback, brickwork feature, and dark granite worktops perfectly.
The Hand-Painting Process
Every hand-painted kitchen project I complete begins with meticulous preparation. The Pippy Oak surfaces were thoroughly cleaned, degreased, sanded, and primed using specialist high-adhesion coatings. Several fine coats of durable furniture paint were then applied by hand, ensuring a flawless, brush-mark-free finish that will last for years.
This traditional method offers a depth and richness that sprayed finishes simply canβt match.
Why Hand-Paint a Pippy Oak Kitchen?
Repainting your existing Pippy Oak kitchen is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective way to modernise your home. Instead of replacing perfectly good cabinetry, a hand-painted finish allows you to completely change the style and feel of your kitchen β for a fraction of the cost of a new installation.
This approach also retains the charm of the oak grain beneath, creating a subtle texture and warmth unique to real wood.
