Our latest Completed Christchurch project was carried out in Stanmore, Middlesex. One of the largest Christchurch installations we have carried out in recent years. The clients where very involved with the planning, installation and hand painting they even designed there own TV unit from the Christchurch range of availble sized cabinets. Very clever the way they designed it thereselfs.
When we are asked to paint a Christchurch kitchen, we know it is at the lower end of the bespoke kitchen quality. The hinges arent great, the MDF panelling could be better, doors fit a bit tight, but it is what it is at their super competitive price points. In other words we know that to make it the best it can be , we need to take more time compared to a high end kitchen. But we know how to make a Christchurch kitchen sing.
Showroom quality hand painted Christchurch kitchen
At Traditional Painter we know how to achieve showroom quality finishes on a Christchurch kitchen. The first Christchurch kitchen in Traditional Painter history was hand painted way back in 2011. Traditional Painter has since painted literally 100s of there new installations across the UK, including there Esher showroom on serveral occasions.
Paul C Barber & Son offer a free 2 year Guarantee on all work carried out and also offer a price match service on like for like quotes from a specialist hand painting service. As full members of the long established network of specialist kitchen painters Traditional Painter, Paul & his son are also Licensed by Trading Standards.
This was actually 7 separate pieces built together to create this fabulous looking TV unit. A great idea from the clients thereselfs and at a very reasonable cost. Once we had made good and hand painted it looked like it was made to order.
Something else a bit different on this project was the interiors of the cabinets including the drawers and shelving. The clients showed me a interior design magazine with photos of a new kitchen installation where the interior veneers where stained in an oak colour. I was able to match this for them using Osmo oil stain, a fanstastic product that is ideal for hard ware areas such as kitchens and also looked brilliant once the clear protective oil coating was applied.
Osmo oil stain Tabac 3564 a nice shade that you can apply by brush and rag off the surplus to produce a very natural looking finish, i would highly recommend this product for this type of a job.
This 2nd project was carried out in Enfield, middlesex
Specification
Christchurch kitchens are unprimed, The first job is to apply a shellac based primer to all areas of bare wood, The reason we use a shellac based primer is not just because it has brilliant adhesion but also is a stainblock, Tuplip wood which the frame work is made from can sometimes stain through the paint film, this primer will prevent that happening, We then rub down the complete kitchen, Fill were required and apply an undercoat, Flated down to a smooth finish we then apply two top coats of furniture paint mixed in any colour of your choice, The final job is to apply a finishing oil to the internal cabinets as they are unsealed
Logistics
A lot of thought has gone into ways of leaving clients with the minimum of disruption. For me the anwser is to remove the doors & drawer fronts and take them away to my workshop. With the frames fully exposed and accessible, I apply the full “Prep and Paint” treatment to everything left in stiu. I then leave the clients in peace to complete the bulk of the work in my workshop . I keep everyone in the loop with process, and return to reinstall the kitchen, Finish any loose ends, Maybe fit new handles and leave the kitchen clean and ready for use
With the unlimited choice of colour and finishes it is essential that we Work very closely with our clients, Part of the attraction of having your kitchen Hand Painted is that you can choose exactly what you want and not be the same as everyone else. We will give you good, Honest advice and will put together colour sample boards to help you make your decision on colour and finish.
Painting Christchurch kitchens right
The painting industry is full of businesses who are willing to cut corners for whatever reason: make extra profit, avoid working too hard, avoid spending out on best kit, meeting a price point not a quality point. But at Traditional Painter, the founding principle was to do the very best work we know how. And we do know how! We charge for the time it takes to do a job right, no corners cut, best paint, best practices.
It limits the number of people who are interested in employing our services. It increases the number of quotes that are rejected on price. Just to be clear though, £100 a door is our mantra. We are not the sort of people who ask you to leave an open tab, and a kitchen costs whatever it costs! Fixed price, based on £100 a door, any part of the country, end of.
Our approach also ensures that we work primarily for those clients who understand and are willing to pay for specialists who will go the extra mile and never leave a job before it has been completed to showroom quality
