Traditional Painter Working In Spain

Marbella Villa

Pic Marbella

This job was planned back in November 2013 when i flew to Malaga airport with my client to look at his villa and the work involved in redecorating through out. We agreed a time scale and a price for the job, I planned the work in for March 2014 the first thing was to book a ferry from the UK to the north coast of Spain as i was driving and taking all the materials and plant required for the work.

Santander Pic

I sailed from Plymouth on the 23rd of March and arrived in Santander northern Spain the next day at midday. Now for the drive of a life time from coast to coast down to Marbella, so started at the Atlantic and ended at the Mediterranean coast of the Costa Del Sol. The drive was right through the middle of Spain passing Madrid on the ring road and many more towns along the way with an over night stop at a place about 50 miles south of Madrid called Lapice a hotel and a garage and that was it. The next day drive on for Malaga through the mountains of the South the Sierra Nevada fantastic  with snow capped mountains tops over 3000 mts.

Now the climate starts to change into what we would expect when we go on holiday to Spain sunny and warm. I arrived at the villa after a day and half of driving, and started the external work which took me 2 days to complete, lucky enough the weather is fantastic but then turns to rain for the next week or so. now for the internal work starting on the bedrooms & bathrooms the plastering is terrible and needs lots of filling, the ceilings are in need of lots of attention, no woodwork to do, the customer wanted a very durable finish on the walls so we went for Dulux diamond matt emulsion in a nice neutral soft stone colour really suited the property looked very Mediterranean , carried on with the remaining areas with a nice feature wall in the lounge in crushed berry a dark red colour.

By this time its early April and its starting to warm up into the mid 20s very nice and sunny great light for painting no work lights required.

The job took 3 full weeks to complete plus a weeks traveling quite an experience and i would do it again if asked.
